Flood disaster risks are often linked to inadequate infrastructure and resources, limited access to basic services, and weak governance structures. These factors underscore the urgent need for countries to invest more in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA), to not only minimize the impacts of such risks but also to build resilience and ensure sustainable progress for the future. The statement of 9th International Conference on Flood Management stresses, “the flood disaster resilience is a prerequisite for achieving sustainable development”.
The title of this Special Session is “Promoting Investment in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation: Policies and Innovative Approaches for a Resilient Future”. This Session will provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers on how to increase investment in DRR and CCA, and how to overcome the various barriers and constraints that limit such investment.
